WHAT IS MEDITATION?

Meditation is a practice that develops present moment awareness of what is real. Thoughts are not real so it is being aware of everything besides thoughts. With awareness of what is real you will have the ability to see yourself and life with clarity and consciousness.

Meditation is the practice of surrendering the thinking mind for reality, allowing you to find detachment from the busyness of your mind.

The practice allows you to find the silence and stillness that rests within you. As meditation becomes a way of life supported by formal practice, you will find that your life becomes more beautiful, compassionate and restful.

SCIENCE AND MEDITATION

Modern science has also been doing some catch up by monitoring some of the benefits that meditation has and the list has become extensive. A few notable observations are that brain scans performed during meditation have shown an increase in activity in areas associated with decreased anxiety and depression. It helps with self-awareness and goal setting. The region of the brain associated with empathy is much more pronounced in advanced meditators. Meditators have been seen to have increased immune function
