ABOUT THIS EVENT

Trauma sensitive yoga can show you how to self-regulate your nervous system when the fight or flight response is triggered in your body as part of a trauma reaction.

Trauma is when we experience or witness an event that is deeply distressing and disturbing. Trauma can be stored in the body and when triggered can affect our capacity to be in the moment and live a balanced and content life. It can sometimes feel like the traumatic event is happening all over again within the body. To cope with the reoccurring pain in the body, we may disconnect from our bodies.

Trauma sensitive yoga is an evidence-based modality that assists you in reconnecting with your body in a safe and regulated space. It is ideal for anyone who has experienced chronic stress, burn out or any kind of trauma.

Reconnecting to the body allows for greater physical and mental wellbeing. As the nervous systems begins to become more regulated, triggering events may not be as severe or last as long.

Join Olimpia Cecora for this 6 week course. Olimpia has a Bachelor of Counselling and is trained in many modalities of yoga, including Trauma Sensitive Yoga.

This course has been specifically designed to build resilience and grounding in the body, to provide education on trauma and how it affects the brain, as well as teach practices of self-compassion and gratitude.

Giving yourself the time and space to heal the body, mind and spirit is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves.

Yoga Teacher

Olimpia is a passionate yogi and counsellor: she loves how yoga and counselling complement each other and looks for ways to connect yoga to mental health. Her focus is working with trauma, particularly using yoga to heal and improve unregulated nervous systems. Olimpia aims to bring a safe, non-judgemental and playful environment to her classes. A space and place where it is safe for you to just be.
