Anger Management: 5 week Course

Anger is a natural emotion that impacts us all. Some of us, however, are especially prone to having difficulty managing our anger.

Further to this, some of us had parents who expressed anger inappropriately and now, as adults, we find ourselves acting in the same manner.

Most people seeking help for anger management do so at the request of a loved one, a friend, a colleague or a supervisor. Anger is typically not something we address until it has caused us significant problems. If you think anger may be an issue for you don’t wait to get help after it is too late.

There are many reasons a person may become angry and benefit from an anger management course. The common reasons people seek anger management support are:

– Difficulty expressing emotions to loved ones without getting in a fight
– Violent outbursts that physically harm objects, people or things around them
– Losing temper regularly
– Threatening violence against themselves or others, even if they do not follow through

In this 5-week anger management training, we will go deeper into the mechanics of anger and discover what is really going on by taking at a good look at:

– What is anger and how does it work exactly?
– The anatomy of anger
– The impact of past patterns
– Can I really change? What brings about change?
– Dealing with fear and anger
– Dealing with the anger of others
– Letting go

The expression of anger is a learned behaviour and what is learned can be relearned.

The skills and techniques provided will help people learn to control and manage their anger. Beginning with learning to lower their base level of anger. As well as teaching the skills to manage situations differently.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

DAKINI WILLIAMS

Counsellor

Dakini Brooke Williams worked as a Change Management consultant in various corporate business sectors across Australia for many years. In 2012 she was a founding director of the not-for-profit organisation The Vishrant Buddhist Society and became an ordained Minister for the society in 2015.

Her business acumen has supported the society to develop Restful Waters, a public centre for helping people to raise their consciousness. Dakini studied with the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors and completed her Diploma of Counselling. In addition to her professional studies, Dakini has also undertaken 7 years of personal Buddhist psychotherapy training and group work. Dakini is an accredited counsellor who draws on a variety of supportive skill sets including; Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness Training.
Dakini uses a transparent style of counselling and her approach shows the importance of the unconscious and past experience in shaping current behaviour. This encourages clients to actively engage in deciding the direction of the work through enquiry and open discussion.

She works collaboratively with clients to assist in clarifying issues, development of skillful means and provides a supportive environment to explore, examine and resolve arising issues being faced in life. Her approach is respectful, insightful and demonstrates genuine care for others.

The HBDI is a profiling tool used by individuals, couples and teams to help identify people’s thinking preferences. When we understand how others and ourselves prefer to think we are better equipped to improve our communication, decision-making and problem-solving abilities. In developing an awareness of our various thinking preferences a greater acceptance of others and ourselves begins to emerge and assists in the resolution of conflicts.

The joy of Dakini’s life is helping others; her time and efforts are given to the Vishrant Buddhist Society and other community projects. She also loves to cook, play with the animals, while supporting and loving her family and community members. Heading out into nature is a calling for Dakini, she loves to go walking, hiking and camping, along with going to the movies or theatre events. All of these bring a big smile to her face and heart.
